Buying an air fryer is like buying a new car – you should think twice before actually purchase it. We have reviewed the five models of Gourmia air fryer: Gourmia GAF520, GCR1700, GTA2500, GAF365 2.2 and GTA1500. Now we can honestly say that each of them is worth buying if you really want to consume a healthy meal and get rid of fats. Buy following our directions; you will never buy a device that will not meet your requirements. Thus, if you have made up your mind about buying one, you must ensure that the capacity is good for your situation. Some devices are great for families while others are good for couples or bachelors.
The NuWave Brio Digital Air Fryer 6 Quart is on the large size and has a big capacity. In our tests it cooked more unevenly and gave less browning and crisping than others. Thanks to digital controls that are easy to read and program, we did find it particularly convenient to use. It has a built-in preheat setting and preprogrammed settings for things like fries and nuggets that you’re likely to cook. A divider for the basket is included so that you can air fry two foods at once and keep them from mingling. In the manual, there’s a slew of recipes to help you get good use out of your air fryer. While the parts are dishwasher safe, top rack only is recommended and the basket may be too large for the upper shelf.
There are many advantages to using an air fryer over an oven. For example, the oil is extracted and usually kept under the basket when in an air fryer. In an oven, all the simmering oil gets splattered around, and even though the food may turn out delicious, there’s a bit of a mess left afterward. Also, when deep frying food in an oven, the heat might be too harsh and can leave you with an under-cooked meal that looks nice and crispy on the outside, but raw on the inside. The hot air circulation in most air fryers is designed to evenly cook food. ( safety – our first priority)
SO GOOD! We eat these a lot in my house – with the almond flour. They are super crispy and delicious! My gluten free kid and grain free husband love them! Sometimes I get some paleo buffalo sauce and brush both sides of the chicken tender and bake them for 5 minutes at 350 after air frying to make buffalo chicken tenders – a trick I am pretty sure I learned from another Lexi recipe 😉
The chicken was not only crunchy on the outside, it was also tender and juicy on the inside. The subtle flavors of the wet dredge can be tasted in the crunchy crumb topping. I served these with a side of Ranch Dressing, but you could also serve these with honey mustard, barbecue sauce, or Polynesian Sauce. All are very good options for these lightly flavored chicken tenders.
“Always wanted to try an air fryer because it’s a healthier way of cooking and preparing foods. After reading so many reviews, I found this fryer to be extremely [attractive], therefore I decided to give it a try. It is a 1,400-watt fryer with eight preset smart programs for basically all of my needs. You can fry, steam, grill, roast, and even bake with it! The timer and temperature can be set to be automatic, but if you preferred to manually check your food you can do that as well. This air fryer causes no smoke while preparing foods because it uses rapid air circulation to create heat that goes up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit … The cleaning is a breeze since there is not much residue. I am really satisfied with this air fryer and will definitely recommend it to my other friends.”
This recipes uses one of my very favourite seasonings in the world : Old Bay Seasoning. It’s a very East Coast spice mix ( I was SO happy to have it in New Jersey when we visited) but this Alberta girl has been using it for years already. Mike and I will simply sprinkle Old Bay onto our chicken drumsticks and roast them thusly, with nothing else on it. You could easily do the same with the chicken drumsticks in the Phillips Airfryer as well, if you want a gluten-free option!
These certainly looked like they'd be crunchy, but a single bite gave way to a pretty boring, chewy, and flavorless taste. My hypothesis is that since frozen vegetables are slightly more processed and designed to be cooked straight out of the bag, they're more likely to taste delicious after one Airfryer session. But fresh produce proved too raw — and resistant — to the heating powers of the Airfryer.
There are several indications on top of the model that point out the recommended time and temperature settings for common food items like chips, chicken, steak and fish.  There is also a warmup light which is something we have not seen in other models.  The idea is that once the warmup is complete, the button will light up meaning you should the put the food in, thus ensuring that a stable temperature is applied at all times.
The Power AirFryer XL lets you to enjoy all your favorite fried foods without all the guilt. The 6-in-1 cooking technology lets you fry, bake, steam, saute, grill or roast your food with the power of super-heated air instead of fatty oils. Seven food presets like French Fries, Steak and Baked Goods help take the guessing out of frying. Simply load the food in the basket, select a preset and sit back as the AirFryer XL super-heats your food to give it the savory crunch that makes your fried favorites so delicious.
Finally, we compared the basket weight of the products, how easy the controls were to operate, and whether the machine was actually hassle-free to clean up. Fortunately for our co-workers, the air-frying process was measurably less messy than deep frying. We didn’t have an oily pool to clean up afterward; the components were smaller than deep fryer parts; and the total cook time was pretty short, so you don’t have to waste all that time waiting. The controls are all pretty intuitive and simple to use: You can choose from the presets or go rogue and set your own temperature and time.

The T-fal came out on top for having some of the best and most consistent cooking across all of our tests, at half the price of its closest competition. Instead of the usual rapid air-circulation tech that keeps hot air constantly moving around the food, the T-fal uses pulsating heat technology to pump hot air periodically throughout the food, maintaining the temperature without drying things out. We initially thought the pulsating-heat tech was marketing nonsense, but we couldn’t argue with the results.
Have only used a few times since the air fryer arrived last week, but super impressed with the result of making fries and wings, especially the wings!!!! Tried the "fried chicken' recipe using chicken thighs. Based on the recipe it was extremely salty (will modify next time!) but the result was good. The wings were a WOW! Only negative so far is a strong chemical smell once in full gear of air frying, I have to assume this will disappear after a few more uses, the heating element is an electric coil therefore I assume this is the reason. Any comments or feedback welcome on this strong chemical smell coming from the back vent (I keep checking to see if somehow we missed the removal of some packing material that could cause this, but not finding anything)
It promises to produce crispy, crunchy foods like french fries and breaded chicken with just a drizzle of oil and in a fraction of the time of baking. For its health benefits, it’s been endorsed by the hard-to-please Gordon Ramsay, and the kinder (but no less discerning) Oprah Winfrey. Many consumers are obsessed, but no less puzzled—how can science produce straight-out-of-the-fryer taste from thin air?
Our own testing agrees with other users experience.  We first put in frozen chips and set it to what was recommended in the cookbook.  They came out well cooked and crispy.  Next we threw in some chicken drumsticks – 4 in total – and found the top and bottom to be more brown than the sides.  Note that we were testing the larger 5 L model, but the results can be applied to the smaller capacity version as well.

Jennifer,
I did a lot of research before deciding to purchase an air fryer. First they aren't cheap and would I really use it or would it just sit on my counter? I ended up purchasing the Sarki Air Fryer for many reasons but for me, I loved the idea that this was the only air fryer on the market that had a stirring paddle in the bottom pan (it can be removed to cook without it) and would stir the food itself. It really does stir the food and cooks whatever you've put in there evenly! The Sarki is also huge compared to the other air fryers in the market. I can cook a whole meal for my husband and I without taking any other pans out of the cabinet. The Sarki has many preset buttons to choose from and is very easy to use. I love my Sarki! If I had a complaint, it would be that it doesn't come with a cookbook, only a users manual. But I've gotten great results from everything I've cooked in it. I probably cook in my Sarki at least 5 nights a week and am so happy with my purchase.
Good luck,
Lisa

Ease of use. If you are a tech minded millennial, you will most likely be looking at air fryers with a digital touch screen interface. Personally, that’s always my choice, as I’m always afraid to break the control knob. On the other hand, for those of us more traditionally inclined in our gadget choices, there are air fryers with an analog interface.
It arrived in the morning and, lacking other options in my fridge and pantry, I made baked potatoes for my wife Elisabeth and myself. Pulling the air fryer out of the box, three things became immediately apparent. First, these things take up a lot of counter space—pretty much the footprint of a five-gallon bucket, and two-thirds the height. (Other brands might be smaller but not that much.) Second, the fan that that runs whenever it's on is loud, effectively sucking the conversation or ambient music right up into the ether. The third thing was how ridiculously tiny the cooking basket is; at nine inches by nine inches by two and three-quarter inches high, two large potatoes effectively maxed out its capacity.
And I can confidently conclude the Airfryer was MADE to fry frozen french fries. These perfect spears of starchy comfort came out crispy, steaming hot, and with good variation between softer and slightly burnt pieces. With just a dash of salt, I swear I could package these in stamped brown bags and sell 'em in my hipster neighborhood for $5 a pop. (BTW, these are the frozen fries I used — nothing special.)
I have had this product for about 1 week now, and am overall pleased with my purchase. I've read multiple reviews prior to purchasing and knew what I was getting into prior to its arrival, and was able to try a few things out to make my own conclusions. Also there are many more reviews from the UK/Australia, but I use the US version and have cooking times in farenheit etc.
When it comes to frying, the Philips Airfryer XXL knocked it out of the park. During testing, we tasted an awful lot of French fries and the Philips cooked up the fries we couldn’t stop noshing on. They had the combination of crunchiness, tenderness, and potato flavor that make great fries so delectable. Even when we loaded the basket with more than three pounds of frozen fries, they came out crispy. Battered Nashville hot chicken came out with a crackling crust and hamburgers rivaled ones made on the grill.
After seeing the wild response to our Air Fryer video — and learning Pinterest saves for Air Fryer recipes were up 1,809 percent this year— we realized we needed to test the limits of this device, with a roundup of the most incredible things you can make in one. From mains to sides to desserts and snacks — they've got all the crisp, and none of the oil. Live your healthiest life, because it now includes fried food.
I see most people on here say they have had theirs for a couple of months before the fan failed. My wife and I had ours for only a week. We tried to return it back to the vender that sold it to us, my wife lost the receipt and the wouldn't take it back even though that was the only one they had in stock and they knew who she was. $159 + tax $171.00 down the drain. The oven was poorly made and I think that was on purpose and guaranteed to break down just to take your money. If you look up parts for this thing you can't find them. The so-called company is a total sham.
What if our top-rated toaster oven added the ability to air fry? Well, you'd get the Breville Smart Oven Air. You will pay top dollar for this handsome hunk of brushed stainless-steel, but you'll get the performance you'd expect to come along with it. In air fryer mode, it consistently turned out crispy food and chicken nuggets that tasted fried. It also sports intuitive and accurate digital controls (sorely missing on the Philips and Krups), along with automatic preheat and a bright oven light.

Multifunction air fryers eat up more countertop real estate, but they’re designed to be kitchen workhorses. The Power AirFryer Oven air-fries, dehydrates, and roasts big batches, features easy-to-use digital controls, but puts out a lot of heat. The well-insulated Cuisinart Convection Toaster Oven Air Fryer (pictured above) bakes a beautiful batch of cookies and air-fries tortilla chips to a lovely crisp, but the old-school manual dials make precision timing tricky.
Wings can be make easily in any air fryer simply by tossing dried wings in potato starch flour, spritzing with oil ( you can omit this if you want ) and cooking on the chicken setting. I will shake the basket every 10min. In the oven I believe you are supposed to rotate the racks every 10 min. I also do wings by taking damp wings and shaking them in a bag with seasoned coating like you would find in the store. This method will give you a bit more of a breading. Wings take approx 25 to 30 min to cook. I just keep an eye on them. You can tell when they are done. I like sauced wings so will take my wings, coat with sauce of choice and then put them under the broiler for about 4 minutes to set the sauce. If making buffalo style I don’t put those under the broiler I just toss in the sauce. Hope this helps. Ps, I get my potato starch flour on Amazon. It lasts a long time.
We tested chips – the staple food of the air fryer.  The recipe book that comes with the unit recommended a temperature setting of 450 °F and a timer of 20 minutes.  At the end of the time (including flipping the chips over midway) we found the chips on the edge of the mesh basket to be cooked more than the ones in the center.  We had to cook the chips for 5 minutes longer to get all of them to a good level of crispiness.  It’s not a huge deal, but other air fryers like the Phillips XL and Black and Decker obviously have a better way of circulating the hot air more evenly.  Luckily there is a 60 minute timer which we feel is needed since food is probably going to take longer then you expect with this unit.

One of the secrets to getting the best results from your air fryer is to coat foods with a dry mixture that cooks up nice and crispy. Here, we’ve used omega-3 rich flaxseeds to add a super-food style crunch to French toast. Thanks to this delicious recipe, you can feel great about treating your kids to these on Saturday morning (they’ll never guess they’re eating a fiber-rich and heart-healthy breakfast!).
What makes the former product better than the traditional ovens? The former appliance is much smaller than the traditional ovens. This makes them an efficient and easy to store option for families. Many people will also tell you that this product gives you tasty and crispy food at a faster speed. It is true! A traditional oven may heat up the food in 10 minutes, but the latter allows you to cook the delicacy in just 6 minutes. Do you see the difference?

Finally, we compared the basket weight of the products, how easy the controls were to operate, and whether the machine was actually hassle-free to clean up. Fortunately for our co-workers, the air-frying process was measurably less messy than deep frying. We didn’t have an oily pool to clean up afterward; the components were smaller than deep fryer parts; and the total cook time was pretty short, so you don’t have to waste all that time waiting. Air frying is much more similar to baking in an oven than deep frying. And although most air fryers say you can cook without any oil at all, we found the best results with a tablespoon of vegetable oil. Even then, our top picks produced food that tasted closer to baked fries and chicken than deep-fried food. Instead of the comforting crunch of a fry, we were met with a tough, sometimes chewy exterior. We found the air-fried insides were thicker and more substantial than the almost puffy, creamy texture one gets from a traditional fryer. The chicken strips most closely imitated the deep-fried, crispy texture we were looking for. For a more detailed breakdown, check out our article comparing deep fryers vs. air fryers.
Meanwhile, separate dough into 5 biscuits; separate each biscuit into 2 layers. Press each into 4-inch round. Spoon 1 heaping tablespoonful egg mixture onto center of each round. Top with one piece of the cheese. Gently fold edges up and over filling; pinch to seal. In small bowl, beat remaining egg and water. Brush biscuits on all sides with egg wash.

Furthermore you don’t get many accessories with this model and the grated basket is the toll you have to hold the food.  Whilst perfect for chips and most solid foods, foods that use marination or are more liquid will seep through the bass.  An easy fix is to use an paper plate or something that is solid to retain the liquid.  If you plan to bake or cook liquids or semi liquid ingredients, it is recommended that you buy the baking pan which comes as a one of the many available accessories.
Although it’s a little smaller in size and capacity, the Power Air Fryer XL can cook and crisp about one pound of food at once. It has digital controls with preset programs. We found it somewhat generic in appearance and the basket doesn’t glide out as smoothly as on some. But on the positive side, it cleans up in the dishwasher, comes with a recipe booklet, and won’t set you back a bundle.
As is with MOST As Seen On TV junk, this item is exactly that. I am taking a pretty good guess that 50% of their units are junk even before they leave their factory. Kind of like fall-apart Kmart junk. After unit internal parts fail even before the warranty expires, you have to pack it and return it at YOUR cost. There are absolutely NO phone numbers to call for ANY assistance for purchasing even the light bulb for it, which a majority of the machine needs to be taken apart just to get to it. Parts rust within a few weeks even when hand washed. SquareTrade's extended warranty backed by Allstate Ins. Co. is also just as worthless!
The air circulation is system is further divided into two different systems. The first system controls the temperature of the fryer together with internal pressure and called as the exhaust system. This is used to address the hot air in the fryer and also uses a filtering option before finally transferring the air. The next system is a cooling system. In Air Fryer, to control the internal temperature, a cooling fan is used to circulate fresh air from top to bottom. This is why the air fryer never becomes hot even while cooking.

If you’re OK with an air fryer taking up a lot of space, than the Philips XL comes with our recommendation.  With a price exceeding the $200 mark, it is a fairly expensive piece of equipment but it does cook food to a very high standard and is well built and usable.  Included in this price is a free app and recipe book with more than 150 recipes.  You’ll also have the option of purchasing a grill pan and double layer rack with skewers as additional cooking accessories.
The egg-shaped Black + Decker 2L Purifry is not all that much smaller in size than other air fryers but has a much smaller basket. B + D only recommends that you cook a half pound of fries or one burger at a time. While it gives good results, it seems like if you’re dedicating so much counter space to an appliance, you should be able to cook enough food for four at once. Plus, the basket didn’t glide in and out easily. Like many, it doesn’t have digital controls so it’s hard to set precisely. But our biggest complaint is that the numbers are so small that we literally needed to use a magnifying glass to set the temperature. Finish available in black and white.
Of course you can cook this oil free, but you’ll get a much better result if you lightly spray with a bit of oil. This is the oil sprayer I use. Basically it’s easy to clean and it was highly rated. I have Mistos but I really don’t like them since they are hard to clean and remember any oil residue will get rancid…YUK. One or two quick sprays on both sides is all you’ll need.

My name is Kevin. My life changed when I realized that healthy living is truly a lifelong journey, mainly won by having a well-balanced diet and enjoying adequate exercise. By experimenting in the kitchen and openly sharing my meals, I learned that healthy eating is hardly boring and that by making a few adjustments, I could design a diet that could help me achieve my personal fitness goals. Our bodies are built in the kitchen and sculpted in the gym.
Bear in mind I have only used the product once - to fry sausage patties. Frying using three racks really saves a lot of time vs. Skillet frying. I think the unit has a lot of potential that is why I bought it. First thoughts, I wish there were more cooking ideas. Second, forget using an oven mitt. There is not enough room with the mitt to grasp the frying trays. I used a pot holder without any problem. Also removing the drip pan without spilling is slightly tedious. Finally, in frying multiple layers of food ( sausage for example ) remember the grease from the upper levels will simply drip down on the lower levels. Keep that in mind. Otherwise I look forward to do more with this unit.
Ideal cooking temperatures are hard to maintain. The secret to successful deep frying is maintaining a proper oil temperature. When cooking oil falls below a certain temperature, the food's internal moisture does not repel the oil as well, resulting in greasy, undercooked food. Simply putting a bag of frozen food into a hot deep fryer will affect the oil temperature, and the heating elements of many deep fryers take a long time to recover from the shock. This is not a concern with superheated cooking methods such as convection or air frying.
Cooking oils break down over time. Animal-based shortenings have very limited shelf life, as they do not react well with the outside air and become rancid. Vegetable oils also begin to separate into water and fat after several deep frying sessions. Replacing these cooking oils, especially in the quantities required for larger deep fryers, can become expensive and time-consuming.
Bought oven in June of this year, used about 4-5 times. Cooking French Fries on the french fry timer and the inside glass on the door shattered. Contacted Seller only to be treated like I did something wrong. Sent me a postage paid return label and I had to box up and take it to Fed Ex to return. Now they want me to sign a Release Form that basically relinquishes them for any wrong doings for the old oven as well as the new oven before they will send me a new oven that I already paid for. Totally Ridiculous! One step away from calling Better Business Bureau.
My daughters got this oven for me last year for Christmas. At first, I just loved it, after about the 15th time I went to use it, it quit working, it would run for 3 or 4 mins & shut off. Called the number & a man who I talked to was very rude, I asked if I could get just the oven as I had all the goodies that came with it I didn't need doubles, he said very snotty, " you have to buy it all or nothing". I will never ask for or buy any of this companies products again. So buyer beware.
Believe it or not, your air fryer has more than one superpower. In addition to delivering crispiness without loads of fat, it also delivers crunchy roasted broccoli that doesn’t turn that oh-so-unappealing army green color. And what’s broccoli without cheese sauce? This creamy delight is easy to make ahead—just reheat it right before serving, then drizzle away.

I've read multiple reviews prior to purchasing and knew what I was getting into prior to its arrival, and was able to try a few things out to make my own conclusions. All of the air fryers we tested have a pan and basket with a nonstick coating; you should avoid using metal cooking utensils or abrasive sponges, which could damage the surface. Though most manufacturers say you can wash the pan and basket in a dishwasher, we don’t recommend it. Washing the pieces by hand using hot water and dish soap will help the nonstick coating last longer.
CR’s take: The As Seen on TV Power AirFryer XL has a 5.3-quart capacity—one of the largest in our ratings—and is easiest to clean, in part because of the basket’s nonstick coating; it rates Excellent in our cleaning tests. The digital controls and preprogrammed settings are a snap to read and use. This model is on the noisy side, about as loud as a typical countertop microwave. That’s not a big drawback if you’re cooking something that takes just a few minutes. But the sound might prove annoying for longer tasks. The Power XL’s warranty is the shortest of the bunch—just 60 days.

I bought this in September and finally used it last week. First off, it is very big so you will need ample storage space to hide it away when you are not using it. My first use of this product was to “Fry“ french fries. The fries came out crisp and delicious with no greasy feel. Sure, you can bake fries in the oven but I’ve never had them come out so crisp from an oven.

This is absolutely where air fryers come out on top. Deep fat frying is dangerous and resource-heavy, and takes a lot of effort. In stark contrast, air fryers are pretty light on effort, and don’t require any more resources than pan frying would. For just about the same effect, most homes benefit heavily from getting an air fryer, as opposed to setting up a frying station on the stove.

Stainless-steel air flow racks and 1700 watts of Air Flow Technology cooks food on both the top and bottom for the crispy-fried taste and texture you love without the fat and calories. Toast, cake, pies, pastas, chicken – this multicooker even fits a 9" round pizza! The entire AirFryer Oven library is also included with recipes for fried food, rotisserie and dehydrator creations.
