We re still overwhelmed at how quickly and perfect salmon can cook in the air fryer. In fact, almost anything cooked in the air fryer always has come out wonderful. After our air fryer brussels sprouts recipe tests, we started experimenting more with this fantastic way to cook. It s a great way to get dinner on the table, especially for two after a long days work.
Great way to cook for two. We have an in-wall, modern, full-sized convection oven but this air fryer turned out to be a faster and cheaper method of cooking a lot of things. Before getting this we were a little skeptical of whether an air fryer might turn out to be just another gadget that wouldn’t get much use, but so far not a problem. It was well-packed, easy to set up and the documentation was great – much better than a lot of consumer products. The instruction manual has very clear concise and illustrated instructions on setup and use. And it comes with a menu book that includes recipes with great color photos of how each should turn out. So far we have tried the “Cheesy Breakfast Egg Toast”, “Sweet Potato Fries” and “Lemon Mahi Mahi”. All turned out great, although perhaps not quite as good as the photos in the book (how do they get such appetizing photos?) Note that the oven doesn’t come with a deep solid basket shown on the Home Depot product listing photo. It comes with 2 teflon-coated shallow wire baskets. These are actually more usable, since they can both be positioned in tracks in the oven so that their contents can be shallower and get more hot air around them. That helped with the sweet potato fries (hint: if you want them crispy, use the 2 x 10 min at 390 deg rather than 2 x 12 min at 350 deg.) Attached photos show the fries cooking on the 2 wire baskets and the final result. It comes with a rotisserie (for chickens, etc.) and a rotating mesh drum 8” x 4.5” diameter. The drum appears well thought out, as it has a lip inside it to toss contents around as it turns, so it works well for popcorn. We haven’t tried the rotisserie yet. The manual says it is good for chickens up to 3lb. But as you can see in my photo, the max size chicken length that would fit on the rotisserie is about 6in – so pretty small. The menu book has a recipe for whole Cornish Hen, which seems more realistic size-wise. Make sure you use the included rotisserie removal fork, as everything will be very hot. We use the fryer on a countertop near cabinets. The instructions emphasize leaving at least 10” of free space on the back and sides. We were a little concerned because our cabinets are about 6” above the unit. But it turned out that the unit actually puts out fairly little heat. You can hold your hand a few inches from the heat vent that is at the rear. So not a problem – at least in our location. The interior does get very hot though, so just be careful in handling trays etc. Overall this turned out to be a great product. No negatives that we have encountered. ...Read More Read Less
The Air Fryer works with rapid air technology system. A combination of high-speed hot air circulation and a top grill, the hot air gets circulated around the ingredients in the basket. All sides of the basket get heated and cook the food very fast and properly. At last, by using rapid air technology, the food becomes crunchier from outside, without being dry from inside. Thus, gives a crispy taste by maintaining the ingredients balance. Check Air Fryer Review.
Traded in my Big Boss Air Fryer for one of these and I absolutely love it. I cooked bacon the other day. You need to rotate the racks every now and then because the top cooks faster than the others and you need to spritz them lightly with cooking spray. Two days ago I used the rotisserie. Took me a while to find the spit because it was on the bottom of the styrofoam packaging. Good thing I didn't throw it out. It's a great little oven. It would be perfect for a student in college or a senior. I just love it.
Will it be frozen fries, chicken wings, chips, and other simple dishes, or more complex recipes that require different heating options, like grilling, steaming, and baking? Air fryers like the Philips XL AirFry are perfect for people who will need an appliance with different modes so they can make a large variety of meals. The downside to it is the steep learning curve you have to go through in order to understand the machine fully, but once you do, you’ll be making mouth-watering cuisine in no time.
On top of the flipping features, the T-fal ActiFry is also relatively easy to use and well-designed. It offers an on/off button, and a timer, which maxes out at 99 minutes. The simplicity is a double-edged sword for some -- there’s no temperature dial here. Instead the fryer heats to 338 degrees, so you’ll modify how your food is cooked more based on how long you cook it rather than the temperature you cook it at.

I preheated the air fryer and my oven, prepped the birds and immediately ran into trouble. I had to cram the tiny chicken into the air fryer basket, and as soon as I closed the door, I could smell something burning. I'd clearly exceeded the height limit for this ride, and now dinner was running late. I fished the slightly singed chicken out, set it on a cutting board and—getting a little desperate since people were on the way over—did what must have looked like man-on-chicken chest compressions in an attempt to break the backbone, or at least flatten the thing out a bit before performing some innovative re-trussing. Surprisingly, it worked.
Classic pub fare like fish and chips can be a real grease-fest, but not when your air fryer’s invited to the party. Panko-crusted tilapia cooks up golden-brown and crispy in the air fryer, while spiralized potato fries make for an irresistibly tasty (and healthier) spin on the traditional "chip." Don’t skip the rich and tangy malt vinegar on the side; it brings a lot of flavor without the added calories and fat of tartar sauce.

In the air fryer, everything comes out crispier, juicier and always perfectly cooked in an incredibly short amount of time. Tatar tots in the air fryer are the best. Chicken in the air fryer, breaded or not is so juicy, tender and delicious. Even ribeye steaks are awesome in the air fryer and I can’t even believe I was willing to try that. Anyway, you get it, it’s worth every penny.

There are many advantages to using an air fryer over an oven. For example, the oil is extracted and usually kept under the basket when in an air fryer. In an oven, all the simmering oil gets splattered around, and even though the food may turn out delicious, there’s a bit of a mess left afterward. Also, when deep frying food in an oven, the heat might be too harsh and can leave you with an under-cooked meal that looks nice and crispy on the outside, but raw on the inside. The hot air circulation in most air fryers is designed to evenly cook food. ( safety – our first priority)
One of the stranger aspects of air fryers is that they recommend shaking the basket a few times during cooking to make sure the results are even. With the added weight of the foods you’re cooking, this can turn into something of an arm workout. Our top pick, the T-fal, was the exception here, with a self-stirring mechanism that we greatly appreciated for saving us that step.
The other night I was going to cook corn dogs and it ran for maybe a minute, or a minute and a half. It shut off and I still cannot get it to work, I called and talked to someone and asked if I could get just the oven, as I didn't need double of everything else. He was very rude and said I had to buy the whole works. I would love to speak to someone from the company. I don't like leaving negative feedback on anything but I will if I don't get a decent answer. It should last longer if they are as good as they say. To say the least, I am not happy!
Here at the Strategist, we like to think of ourselves as crazy (in the good way) about the stuff we buy (like knife sharpeners), but as much as we’d like to, we can’t try everything. Which is why we have People’s Choice, in which we find the best-reviewed (that’s four-to-five-star reviews and lots of ’em) products and single out the most convincing. While we’ve written about slow cookers, toasters and toaster ovens, frying pans and skillets, cookware sets, electric griddles and indoor grills, and even microwaves, here we’re rounding up the best air fryers you can find on Amazon. (Note that reviews have been edited for length and clarity.)

Adjustable Temperature: Often times, you need to adjust the temperature while cooking, or else the food will either come out under or overcooked. The Philips XL Airfryer allows you to adjust the temperature and turn it up to 390 degrees, unlike other air fryers that only have one temperature setting. This also lets you cook a variety of different foods that require a certain temperature to make perfectly.Adjustable temperature: Often times, you need to adjust the temperature while cooking, or else the food will either come out under or overcooked.

This sleek 4th generation Air Fryer made by GoWise USA features a user-friendly digital touchscreen interface with 7 built in presets allowing you to easily cook steak, fish, meat, shrimp, chips, chicken and bake cake. Temperature and cooking time can be manually adjusted as well. The unit is equipped with a 30-minute timer, which is adequate for most uses, however we’d prefer it to be a standard 1-hour timer like the ones offered in other brands and models.
“Always wanted to try an air fryer because it’s a healthier way of cooking and preparing foods. After reading so many reviews, I found this fryer to be extremely [attractive], therefore I decided to give it a try. It is a 1,400-watt fryer with eight preset smart programs for basically all of my needs. You can fry, steam, grill, roast, and even bake with it! The timer and temperature can be set to be automatic, but if you preferred to manually check your food you can do that as well. This air fryer causes no smoke while preparing foods because it uses rapid air circulation to create heat that goes up to 400 degrees Fahrenheit … The cleaning is a breeze since there is not much residue. I am really satisfied with this air fryer and will definitely recommend it to my other friends.”
“… air frying significantly reduced moisture and oil uptake. In terms of free fatty acids, peroxide values and other physicochemical changes, researchers reported greater changes in the oil extracted from traditional frying methods, in comparison to air frying. Overall, researchers concluded that using an air-fryer is, in fact, a healthier technique.”
You can do this by reading the illustration on the front of the Airfryer, flipping through the recipe booklet included with the Philips Airfryer, or simply testing out a bunch of times yourself. Pro tip: Start your timer at 5 minutes at 200°C, and just add or subtract minutes or degrees from there. That's basically how I figured out the optimal frying times of all my foods.

However, one of the most common complaints we’ve encountered among consumers in general is that, if you’re planning on using an air fryer to completely replace a traditional deep fryer for more robust, freshly-made foods like fried chicken or dumplings—and you’re expecting the exact same taste in all instances—you might be disappointed by their performance.
People are enthusiastic about air fryers these days, but we think that’s because they don’t realize they already have appliances in their home that will create the same (or better) results. Given that all air fryers do is blow hot air around, we don’t think any of the ones we tried are worth the money—especially if you already have a convection oven or toaster oven. Here’s a full rundown of air fryers’ flaws.
Fry up some diner-style food with Belk’s selection of deep fryers. Try out air fryers for a healthier option with a fraction of the oil. Deep fryers and small deep fryers fit easily on your counter, or in your cupboard so you can pull them out for all your parties. Fry french fries, fried chicken and more in an immersion deep fryer. Use your home deep fryer alongside your electric skillet and coffee maker to create the perfect brunch for your friends. Deep fryers for the home are easy to operate, safe to use and are easy to clean.

We were initially hesitant about the T-fal only having a single temperature setting: 338 degrees. We worried things might come out undercooked, but it turned out not to be a problem. Its unique pulsating heat technology and constant rotating of the food kept the results consistent. In fact, the preset temperature made using the T-fal slightly simpler to use. There was no fiddling with different temperatures — all we had to worry about was how long to cook our food.
If you want to cook for a family, then buy an appliance, which has higher capacity. On the contrary, if you live alone, then the compact device will be okay for you. A healthy body is an extremely important condition for a long life! We can 100% say that eating junk food is an addiction many people just can quit. You can never get enough of it. However, after buying your first air fryer, you will enjoy the cooking process, and your body will feel light in few days. Say “no” to excessive oil and bring home this extremely useful domestic device!
I purchased this air fryer during the lightening sale because Gordon Ramsay endorses this model. It arrived and at first I was a little intimidated by it then I thought I'll start with potatoes. I used some gold potatoes I had at home for baking and cut them into identical sized French fries, soaked them in water for 30 minutes before air frying, sprayed the basket with cooking spray, placed the soaked potatoes in the air fryer and 22 minutes later had the best French fries of my life!!! Being a lemon pepper chicken wing lover I decided to do chicken wings but I didn't have the party wings so I used full size wings, washed and dried them then coated with lemon pepper seasoning and a little salt, again sprayed the basket and cooked them, they also came out delicious!!! My family has loved everything I've cooked in it. Today I cooked chicken breasts, bone and skin on and they came out divine. I purchased the Air Fryer to aid in weight loss by lowering the amount of fat from regular frying and calories and I have not been disappointed yet. I saw a comment that said the reviews were bogus because they weren't from verified purchasers so here you go, I purchased mine on July 11th and haven't stopped using it. One of the issues I think people have is they still feel they need to add a lot of oil but you don't, I don't use any except to spray the basket. I hope this helps anyone thinking about purchasing an Air Fryer, I can't wait to try more recipes with mine!!! Philips Airfryer, The Original Airfryer with Bonus 150+ Recipe Cookbook, Fry Healthy with 75% Less Fat, Black HD9220/28
Me too! The rotisserie cannot handle a 4 pound chicken or anything close. Even tied to the nines, there is virtually no clearance between the meat on the rotisserie and the drip pan. Same goes for the skewers. There is less than 1/2 inch clearance between the ingredients on the rotating skewers, and the drip pan, and so they rub against the bottom and cause things to slow down. It is a very bad design, although the concept is great. The interior (black) is nearly impossible to see into to place racks, rotisserie baskets, etc. and at counter level, you need a flashlight to see what you are doing and use your free hand to try to manipulate the food! Also, the door is just a removable hinged affair, very easy to fall off, while removing for cleaning. Like I said, great idea, but very poorly executed. Don't fall for all of those late night infomercials! Despite what the food looks like in their commercials, it just doesn't live up to them!

The truth is that an air fryer will handle typical fried foods pretty poorly. "The only food that'll come out the same is a french fry," Mims says. "It doesn’t work well with traditionally fried foods that have a wet batter. Things like chicken wings or fish fingers, or schnitzel, those all have to be adapted to the machine. They should be dry-coated with breadcrumbs, or cornmeal, or spices and herbs to get a get a crisp texture."

I went to the store and there they were, same brand and everything. I split up the bag, and started one batch in the air fryer, and another in my oven with the convection off, then made a follow-up batch using the convection setting. The air fryer fries were nicely browned and crisp, but a bit hollowed out, seemingly at the expense of some pleasant creaminess inside. The no-convection oven batch was more leathery on the outside, creamy within, and noticeably less browned. The convection oven version landed squarely between the two.
