- Whole Chicken (6lbs) - I just cooked this last night, and OMH!!! I rinsed the whole chicken and patted dry and then rubbed with a tiny bit of oil and seasoned with Johnny's Seasoning Salt (Google it, you'll be glad you did!) and black pepper. Then place in AirFryer basket breast-side down and cook at 370 for 35 minutes. Then I flipped it over to breast-side up and cooked an additional 30 minutes. When I saw the skin was to my desired crispiness, I covered it with foil and cooked it for another 10 minutes, and then removed the foil and cooked another 5 minutes more. The result was the tastiest and juicy chicken! My kids actually wanted to eat the skin. Note: If the liquid comes up above the fry basket holes, then carefully dump out some of the juice and continue cooking. Also, you'll want to use the silicone trivets under the fry basket to keep it from making contact with the bottom basket.

Not at all happy with this product. The first use for battered shrimp proved to be successul but each use since has been a disaster. It takes 30 minutes to heat to semi crisp a precooked hamburger. Testing the temp, it appears to never reach the set temp. When I called customer service they had no solution but to contact Amazon which I will be doing with a return item request.
Add half of your cauliflower to air fryer (no need to oil the basket). Cook for 12-14 minutes, shaking halfway, or until you reach desired consistency. Repeat with remaining cauliflower, except lower cook time to 9-10 minutes. Cauliflower will keep tightly sealed in the refrigerator up to 4 days. To reheat, add back to air fryer for 1-2 minutes, until warmed through and slightly crispy.
In the air fryer, everything comes out crispier, juicier and always perfectly cooked in an incredibly short amount of time. Tatar tots in the air fryer are the best. Chicken in the air fryer, breaded or not is so juicy, tender and delicious. Even ribeye steaks are awesome in the air fryer and I can’t even believe I was willing to try that. Anyway, you get it, it’s worth every penny.
Wings can be make easily in any air fryer simply by tossing dried wings in potato starch flour, spritzing with oil ( you can omit this if you want ) and cooking on the chicken setting. I will shake the basket every 10min. In the oven I believe you are supposed to rotate the racks every 10 min. I also do wings by taking damp wings and shaking them in a bag with seasoned coating like you would find in the store. This method will give you a bit more of a breading. Wings take approx 25 to 30 min to cook. I just keep an eye on them. You can tell when they are done. I like sauced wings so will take my wings, coat with sauce of choice and then put them under the broiler for about 4 minutes to set the sauce. If making buffalo style I don’t put those under the broiler I just toss in the sauce. Hope this helps. Ps, I get my potato starch flour on Amazon. It lasts a long time.
The timer is a sore point as it only goes up to 30 minutes and it must be noted that if you pull your food out during cooking, it will continue ticking on.  It’s a bit annoying at first but easily fixed if you pre-emptively set the time with this action already planned for.  This is another common issue prevalent in all analog air fryers and is resolved if you opt for the digital model.

If you’re OK with an air fryer taking up a lot of space, than the Philips XL comes with our recommendation.  With a price exceeding the $200 mark, it is a fairly expensive piece of equipment but it does cook food to a very high standard and is well built and usable.  Included in this price is a free app and recipe book with more than 150 recipes.  You’ll also have the option of purchasing a grill pan and double layer rack with skewers as additional cooking accessories.
If money is no object AND you are sure you will use it enough, then buy the Phillips. It’s sturdy, it’s got a few bells and whistles, such as a sliding rack to hold the basket, a preheat feature etc. even though, oddly, it only goes up in 30-degree increments. The bottom basket cleans easily, and the larger grid and higher wattage means even cooking and less need to flip. The larger grid does mean small things fall down. Get it HERE.
Like the GoWISE model, the Avalon Bay Digital Air Fryer 220SS burned the fries closest to the heating element and left those on the bottom of the basket raw. The Avalon Bay model was one of the few that came with accessories in the box. Oh, friends! It was so sad! I could only cook four thighs at a time, despite the recipe's idea that you could fit six. (Where do they find these miniature chickens? It was digital, easy to program & had preset controls for certain foods. You could also adjust the the and temp manually. The timer also could be set for many hours not just 30 minutes. The chicken wings, tenders and French fries came out great although the cook time was longer than the preset times. I tried a steak, would not recommend as it was just warmed. Also tried drying fruit, set on the preset (10 hours) and it still was not done after adding 2 more hours. I was so excited to use this oven even though it was very pricey. However, it just didn’t perform for the price which was $160. I an pay a lot less to do wings & fries! Sent it back.

Would not recommend this product. The basket is VERY hard to get in and out. Purchased one and returned it for that reason and got a new one, this one worked for a bit but started having the same problem. Then the outside part of the basket broke off, making it impossible for the unit to turn on without holding the basket in place. Have had for 9 months and the company will not replace the basket outside part and told me I would need to buy another one instead. Very very disappointing.

Naturally, the oven batch took 15 minutes longer (45 minutes total) to cook since I turned the temperature down. The air fryer chicken again cooked quicker, was crisper, and did not smoke up the kitchen. In fact, the air fryer batch was delightfully crispy and the breading was fully cooked through—no soggy bits to be seen. The drawback, again, was that it could only hold a few pieces of chicken. That said, though the oven batch may not have been quite a crisp in the breading, I will say, the flesh was much juicer.
