Great way to cook for two. We have an in-wall, modern, full-sized convection oven but this air fryer turned out to be a faster and cheaper method of cooking a lot of things. Before getting this we were a little skeptical of whether an air fryer might turn out to be just another gadget that wouldn’t get much use, but so far not a problem. It was well-packed, easy to set up and the documentation was great – much better than a lot of consumer products. The instruction manual has very clear concise and illustrated instructions on setup and use. And it comes with a menu book that includes recipes with great color photos of how each should turn out. So far we have tried the “Cheesy Breakfast Egg Toast”, “Sweet Potato Fries” and “Lemon Mahi Mahi”. All turned out great, although perhaps not quite as good as the photos in the book (how do they get such appetizing photos?) Note that the oven doesn’t come with a deep solid basket shown on the Home Depot product listing photo. It comes with 2 teflon-coated shallow wire baskets. These are actually more usable, since they can both be positioned in tracks in the oven so that their contents can be shallower and get more hot air around them. That helped with the sweet potato fries (hint: if you want them crispy, use the 2 x 10 min at 390 deg rather than 2 x 12 min at 350 deg.) Attached photos show the fries cooking on the 2 wire baskets and the final result. It comes with a rotisserie (for chickens, etc.) and a rotating mesh drum 8” x 4.5” diameter. The drum appears well thought out, as it has a lip inside it to toss contents around as it turns, so it works well for popcorn. We haven’t tried the rotisserie yet. The manual says it is good for chickens up to 3lb. But as you can see in my photo, the max size chicken length that would fit on the rotisserie is about 6in – so pretty small. The menu book has a recipe for whole Cornish Hen, which seems more realistic size-wise. Make sure you use the included rotisserie removal fork, as everything will be very hot. We use the fryer on a countertop near cabinets. The instructions emphasize leaving at least 10” of free space on the back and sides. We were a little concerned because our cabinets are about 6” above the unit. But it turned out that the unit actually puts out fairly little heat. You can hold your hand a few inches from the heat vent that is at the rear. So not a problem – at least in our location. Okay, got my air fryer last night, opened it up, set it up and tried it for breakfast this morning. The included recipe book has instructions for soft and hard boiled eggs (first page). Granted it was for "large" eggs, and I used "extra large" eggs, but followed the directions (ten minutes at 300 degrees), and the eggs were barely cooked. Put them back in and cooked for four more minutes at 350 degrees, still not cooked enough to peel (ruined a second egg trying to peel it). Put them back in for a third time, three more minutes at 300 degrees. Now I am down to four eggs (started with six). Two were cooked enough to peel and say they were "soft boiled" (very soft boiled) eggs. The other two fell apart trying to peel them because they were under cooked. Next batch of six eggs were cooked at 300 degrees for SEVENTEEN minutes (seven more minutes than the directions said), and they got brown spots on the shell, but they were indeed "hard boiled" eggs (barely). My opinion is if one can't even cook a hard boiled egg according to the directions, I don't even want to TRY anything else! The machine is nice, easy to remove the two cooking racks, and the drip tray on the bottom (all coated with non stick surfaces), but it is much smaller than I expected. It does fit on the kitchen counter nicely, and stays cool on the outside while cooking, and it looks nice if one were to leave it out all the time. This machine is NOT FOR ME, and will be returned. - Whole Chicken (6lbs) - I just cooked this last night, and OMH!!! I rinsed the whole chicken and patted dry and then rubbed with a tiny bit of oil and seasoned with Johnny's Seasoning Salt (Google it, you'll be glad you did!) and black pepper. Then place in AirFryer basket breast-side down and cook at 370 for 35 minutes. Then I flipped it over to breast-side up and cooked an additional 30 minutes. When I saw the skin was to my desired crispiness, I covered it with foil and cooked it for another 10 minutes, and then removed the foil and cooked another 5 minutes more. The result was the tastiest and juicy chicken! My kids actually wanted to eat the skin. Note: If the liquid comes up above the fry basket holes, then carefully dump out some of the juice and continue cooking. Also, you'll want to use the silicone trivets under the fry basket to keep it from making contact with the bottom basket.

Of all the air fryers we tested, the Philips HD9641/96 had the smallest footprint, measuring approximately 14¼ by 10½ by 11 inches, length by width by height. That said, it’s still bulky, and it takes up ample space on a kitchen counter. But it has the least offensive design, unlike the huge T-fal air fryer we tested, which at about 17 by 12½ by 8 inches looked like something out of an ’80s sci-fi movie.

You don’t want to overcrowd the airfryer so it’s not great for large batch cooking. For meats, I found that you really want to keep everything in 1 layer to get the most golden results. This meant I could only fit in 4 drumsticks or 5 chicken tenders. If I was cooking for a crowd, I honestly would have just baked or broiled in an oven on big sheet pans
Furthermore you don’t get many accessories with this model and the grated basket is the toll you have to hold the food.  Whilst perfect for chips and most solid foods, foods that use marination or are more liquid will seep through the bass.  An easy fix is to use an paper plate or something that is solid to retain the liquid.  If you plan to bake or cook liquids or semi liquid ingredients, it is recommended that you buy the baking pan which comes as a one of the many available accessories.

Piece of trash. I was so excited to buy this oven, thinking it would be healthier, convenient & faster way to feed our family. The oven on tv isn’t the same version, so we upgraded. Food looked so delicious on tv wrong wrong! I used the rotisserie for a whole chicken but can only have a chicken weighing 4 lbs. To return it you must insure & sent usps or ups $105 later we sent it back. What a rip-off.
Hi Helen–I would try oiling the basket of the fryer but brush it with regular oil and don’t use Pam. I didn’t have to do this with this chicken, but a good method for getting breading to stick to whatever you’re cooking is to make sure that the flour is almost like paste–which should happen here because of the buttermilk soak, but if you refrigerate the breaded pieces for about an hour, the breading will adhere. This is messy, I won’t lie, but it does work. Only other thing I can think of is you may have crowded the basket. Many people swear by the parchment rounds they sell to line the fryer basket. I bought them off Amazon but to be honest, I find them more trouble than they’re worth, but your mileage may vary.
- Vents very hot air out the back, which I'd forgotten, and one night noticed one of my blinds was drooping and quickly realized it was because I had the fryer too close to the wall. I was able to bend the blind back into shape, well mostly straight anyways. LOL! Now I just make sure I pull the fryer out to the edge of the counter and have had no issues since.

Appears very solidly built. Heats up fast, very quiet. Super easy to clean. Simple controls. Does exactly what I bought it for. The picture is of two Gorton's frozen Grilled Salmon Filets. Turned out flaky, juicy, and nicely browned. I like to re-heat pizza in it, as it doesn't turn out soggy like in the microwave. Quick for heating up fully cooked sausages, as the grease all drips into the bottom pan.

The racks are great because you can cook on up to 5 racks at a time. Foods that are battered stick no matter what you do. The manufacturers suggest you spray racks with olive oil, canola oil, PAM, etc. I have done that and they still stick. If you just cook without batter, it still sticks. I recently cooked some French Bread Pizza and I couldn't get it to cook without overcooking it. Definitely do not use the box's time, it'll be burnt to a crisp. I wouldn't suggest buying this item. Also, if you want to cook rotisserie chicken, you can only use a 4 lb chicken. This is also a small unit that I bought, so it limits the size of chickens, etc.
