Unlike most models in this price category, it doesn’t have digital controls. While it’s not huge, it is taller than typical toaster ovens. It accommodates two pounds of fries, six slices of bread and according to Cuisinart, a four-pound chicken. If you love to toss everything in the dishwasher, be aware that all the parts need to cleaned by hand. But unless you already have a toaster oven that you love, the Cuisinart is a worth considering for its versatility.
I see most people on here say they have had theirs for a couple of months before the fan failed. My wife and I had ours for only a week. We tried to return it back to the vender that sold it to us, my wife lost the receipt and the wouldn't take it back even though that was the only one they had in stock and they knew who she was. $159 + tax $171.00 down the drain. The oven was poorly made and I think that was on purpose and guaranteed to break down just to take your money. If you look up parts for this thing you can't find them. The so-called company is a total sham.
I bought this in September and finally used it last week. First off, it is very big so you will need ample storage space to hide it away when you are not using it. My first use of this product was to “Fry“ french fries. The fries came out crisp and delicious with no greasy feel. Sure, you can bake fries in the oven but I’ve never had them come out so crisp from an oven.
We had the other one and it worked great, gave it to me daughter after we got this one. Wish we had it back : this is good tor wings and fries but you try and use the skewers they are to short to reach on both sides, as far as the rotisserie part you have to use baby capons, not a chicken. ( joke ). Friends got the Nuwave air oven and its twice the unit ours is. Guess I ll just give this to someone else and get one of them. To bad I m out all that money! So don't waste your money.

This is absolutely where air fryers come out on top. Deep fat frying is dangerous and resource-heavy, and takes a lot of effort. In stark contrast, air fryers are pretty light on effort, and don’t require any more resources than pan frying would. Not only does it have a cool exterior for you to safely touch it if needed, it also doesn’t blow out hot steam like other air fryers, making it a top choice for families with small children.

The timer is a sore point as it only goes up to 30 minutes and it must be noted that if you pull your food out during cooking, it will continue ticking on.  It’s a bit annoying at first but easily fixed if you pre-emptively set the time with this action already planned for.  This is another common issue prevalent in all analog air fryers and is resolved if you opt for the digital model.

The booklet sneakily recommended cooking a three-pounder, but I sensed trouble. Birds that small aren't easy to find at Safeway. Elisabeth checked at the grocery store near my house and after flipping through a bin of chickens, she couldn't find one smaller than 3.5 pounds. I grew up just about an hour South of Buffalo, New York and I have definitely consumed my fair share of Buffalo Wings. If money is no object AND you are sure you will use it enough, then buy the Phillips. It’s sturdy, it’s got a few bells and whistles, such as a sliding rack to hold the basket, a preheat feature etc. even though, oddly, it only goes up in 30-degree increments. The bottom basket cleans easily, and the larger grid and higher wattage means even cooking and less need to flip. The larger grid does mean small things fall down. Get it HERE.

CR’s take: The most expensive of the group, the Philips TurboStar HD9641/96 has a capacity of 3.1 quarts, which puts it in the middle of the pack in terms of size. The electronic controls are fairly easy to use and read, and there’s a handy knob to set the cooking time and temperature. Preprogrammed settings for commonly cooked foods eliminate a step. Cleaning the nooks of the basket can be a chore, although the rest of the fryer cleans up easily, earning this air fryer a Good rating in our cleaning tests. The warranty is one year.
Similar to ribs, chicken wings can become part of your weeknight dinner possibilities thanks to their quick cooking time in the air fryer (only 20 minutes!). And when rubbed with baking powder and spices, they become super-duper crispy; just the thing for tossing with a flavorful sauce and serving over rice, all of which you’re able to do during the miraculously short time in which they're air-frying.
Avalon provide a digital and analog version of the product.  The core difference is that the digital comes with pre-programmed settings for cooking meat, fish or chicken and allows for greater control of the temperature and time.  Although the analog model is the cheaper option, the trade-off is using dials that don’t provide as much precision as a digital display.
Cooking oils break down over time. Animal-based shortenings have very limited shelf life, as they do not react well with the outside air and become rancid. Vegetable oils also begin to separate into water and fat after several deep frying sessions. Replacing these cooking oils, especially in the quantities required for larger deep fryers, can become expensive and time-consuming.

Hi Helen–I would try oiling the basket of the fryer but brush it with regular oil and don’t use Pam. I didn’t have to do this with this chicken, but a good method for getting breading to stick to whatever you’re cooking is to make sure that the flour is almost like paste–which should happen here because of the buttermilk soak, but if you refrigerate the breaded pieces for about an hour, the breading will adhere. This is messy, I won’t lie, but it does work. Only other thing I can think of is you may have crowded the basket. Many people swear by the parchment rounds they sell to line the fryer basket. I bought them off Amazon but to be honest, I find them more trouble than they’re worth, but your mileage may vary.

In the air fryer, everything comes out crispier, juicier and always perfectly cooked in an incredibly short amount of time. Tatar tots in the air fryer are the best. Chicken in the air fryer, breaded or not is so juicy, tender and delicious. Even ribeye steaks are awesome in the air fryer and I can’t even believe I was willing to try that. Anyway, you get it, it’s worth every penny.
